Day 14 – Was a more normal length ride today. Rode with a whip and worked on frequent transitions with a lot of success. I am very pleased, we did dozens of quick w,t,w transitions working on stepping under and lifting back with consistency.
This exercise gave me a super responsive horse that was actively looking for the right answer-which is a wonderful feeling.
My friend, Sarah came out and rode my man, Sam with me. Luc and Sam are quickly become best buds 🙂 I don’t know if I have mentioned this yet, but Samson is a nongaited TWH. He doesn’t gait, but he has a walk that really covers ground with little to no effort. The past few times Luc and I have ridden with him, we have not been able to come close to keeping up- but today Luc went into a new gear and we had several spouts of lengthened walk!
Right after this Luc seemed to have flipped a switch and he stretched his topline and fully relaxed beneath me. Was awesome.
What a great day!
